These are some of my favorites, even though I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few! I’ll be adding a few of my favorite sports movies as well, starting with basketball in Ballin’ in the Big Screen.Īdd your favorite sports songs in the comments.“I discovered at a very early age that I would not be the best student, or the best dancer. The Boys of Fall (Kenny Chesney) – Not going to lie, I like this one.Īre You Ready for Some Football (Hank Williams Jr) – former Monday Night Football theme song
#Kurtis blow basketball vocals only movie#
Space Jam (Quad City DJs) – EVERYTHING about this movie is amazing, especially the soundtrack One Shining Moment – NCAA Final Four anthem We’re Playing Basketball (Lil Bow Wow) – an updated cover of Kurtis Blow’s hit. Take Me Out to the Ballgame (everyone/Harry Caray) – One of the best reasons to go to a major/minor league ball game.īasketball (Kurtis Blow) – this one has some old school hoop ball references The Greatest (Kenny Rogers) – This one’s an amusing listen but won’t make anyone’s regular playlist. Kelly) – Not a warm up song, per se, but like the previous two would be good for video or slide show.Ĭenterfield (John Fogerty) – “Put me in Coach” There’s just something I love about “new grass on the field.”Ĭheap Seats (Alabama) – “our team might be minor league but at least it’s triple A” Kelly) – Not a pump up song, but another great song from the Space Jam soundtrack.įly Like an Eagle – more Space Jam goodness. We Are the Champions (Queen) – not a pre-game song, but great for after the big win, sing-along style. YMCA (Village People) – It’s not really a sports song, but everyone knows it and it invites a lot of crowd participation. Winner (Jamie Foxx with Justin Timberlake and TI) Heart of a Champion (Nelly and Lincoln University) The Final Countdown (Europe) – This one is a great run in song for warm ups or I suppose for the last song before time expires on warm ups.
I only used the chorus repeated over and over, so there was plenty of “boom.” It would work well with football for tackles, soccer for kicks, baseball for pitching or hitting. I also used it for a great volleyball highlight video, timing up the “boom” to the appropriate moments. Here Comes the Boom (Nelly) – This is great for warm-ups. Who Let the Dogs Out (Baha Men) – Not necessarily a sports song, unless your school mascot is some sort of dog, but the crowd knows the words. This song has seen a resurgence at sports events lately and has worked it’s way down to the high school level. Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond) – so good, so good, so good. We Will Rock You (Queen) – If you didn’t stop along in the bleachers to this song, were you even in high school in the 80s/90s?Įye of the Tiger (Survivor) – Wonderful for pre-game or imagining you are Rocky. And it’s fine if your athlete wants to include those on her playlist, just make sure you get the clean versions if you want to play them pre-game over a loud speaker for everyone to hear! That being said, make sure you give these a listen before publicly broadcasting to make sure they go with your team, your values and your age group. There are great warm up songs that will get you pumped up that aren’t listed. I’ve only included clean songs that would be playable over a sound system or with a video or slide show at your end of the season banquet. Some of these are my favorites from my playing days, others I enjoyed when my kids were first playing the game. Everyone has their favorite sports songs.
